ISSUE #21: Browne Family Vineyards 2015 Petit Verdot
Browne Family 2015 Petit Verdot is 100% Petit Verdot sourced from throughout the Columbia Valley including our Browne Family Estate Vineyard in the Spring Valley district of Walla Walla, our estate Canyon Vineyard Ranch Vineyard and the Blue Mountain Vineyard. John Freeman, our winemaker, aged it for 21 months in 50% new French oak.
The wine is a beautiful dark purple, almost black, color with aromas of tanned leather, cedar, and allspice. It has big structure with concentrated fruit flavors of dried fig, black plum, and Bing cherry. The finish is smoky and earthy with great tannic structure. It will cellar well and is sure to stand the test of time.
Since Petit Verdot is a hardy grape with a lot of tannin it is a natural fit for rich, meat dishes, grilled steak, spicy pork, veal, lamb, and all types of sausage. It is also perfect for a myriad of different hard and semi soft cheeses.
