Estate Merlot
2019 Estate Merlot Tasting Notes
Our Estate Vineyard merlot has floral notes with violets and rose pedals, and flavors of red cherry, Santa Rosa plum and oak. This is a full-bodied Merlot with a bright and clean acid that brings the fruit flavors forward. The wine finishes with cherry pie, huckleberry jam and sweet oak. Pair this wine with stews, cassoulet, confit, veal and smoked fish and locks.
Vinatge Notes
The 2019 vintage in Washington State proved to be a cooler and wetter year than the last several vintages. Still, a rainy September and brief cold snap in mid-October didn’t keep this harvest from showing brighter and very balanced wines. Wines are presenting with phenolic ripeness without the higher sugars shown in the last few vintages. Washington was on a warming trend since 2012, until 2019 came along to serve as a reminder that Mother Nature is in full control and will keep the viticulture teams expecting the unexpected.
Browne Vamily Estate Vienyard
Walla Walla Valley AVA: Deep, silt loam soils that hold moisture exceptionally paired with the diurnal shift-hot days and long, cool nights, which capture great acids and sugars – results in wines with concentrated and well-pronounced flavor.
